Anna and Peter Ryan both trained in and taught English in New Zealand secondary schools for many years. After a stint of long term relieving (supply teaching), Anna decided there was a need for a text that covered a lot of the basics that students could do at home, as well as a resource for relievers such as herself, and so the To Go series was born with the first titles being roled out way back in 2001. Peter's school proved a great testing ground which provided really positive feedback. Anna thought to herself that if one could be so pleased with it then other schools could well be interested in it too.
Anna and Peter's son, Martin, has supported the endeavors since day one, helping with book binding in his teens, building the invoicing system as a project out of university in the early 2000's and developing a number of iterations of the website over the years since. In early 2023 Martin suggested seeing if there was any international demand for the products. He and his wife Lucy began developing the overseas market shortly after.
